Research Interviews- Transitioning to Independent Practice

Dr. Sarah Cook is conducting a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada–funded qualitative study exploring the experiences of International Trained Physicians who have transitioned to independent practice in Canada.

The study is particularly interested in ITPs who completed Canadian postgraduate residency training between 2020 and 2025.

Participation involves a one-time confidential Zoom interview. Individuals who feel this study may be relevant to their experience — or who know colleagues for whom it may be relevant — are invited to contact the researcher directly sarah.cook@ucalgary.ca

  • One confidential 60-min Zoom interview

  • Anonymity assured

  • $50 gift card honorarium for participation

  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada–funded research

  • Sponsored by the University of Calgary

  • Insights may help inform how Canadian residency programs, CPD and policy makers can support ITPs transition to practice
