New Research Article Highlights Underrepresentation of ITPs in Family Medicine Relevant Leadership Roles

ITPC celebrates the accomplishments of its members. We congratulate Dr. Mariana da Silva Jardim and her colleagues on their publication in the Canadian Family Medicine Journal. Dr. Mariana da Silva Jardim previously served as one of the directors of ITPC.
In the article titled "Internationally trained physicians in family medicine leadership", her and her colleagues explore the current representation of internationally trained physicians (ITPs) in family medicine (FM)–relevant medical leadership in Canada, compared to their representation in the Canadian FM workforce.

Other findings from their study highlighted that in Manitoba, female physicians were more highly represented in leadership roles than in the general family physician population and looking at Canada generally, there were no significant differences in leadership representation based on years since medical school graduation.
