Dr. Salwa Beg is a second-year Family Medicine resident in Regina, Saskatchewan, training through the University of Saskatchewan. She earned her medical degree from James Cook University in Queensland, Australia, where she developed a strong interest in rural, remote, and Indigenous health. Her medical training included clinical experiences in underserved communities throughout northern Australia and the Torres Strait Islands, fostering a commitment to equitable healthcare access and culturally responsive care.

As an internationally trained physician, Dr. Beg has firsthand experience navigating the complex pathway to medical licensure and residency in Canada. This journey inspired her passion for supporting internationally educated physicians and advocating for more equitable pathways to practice. She has been actively involved with the Internationally Trained Physicians of Canada (ITPC), contributing to initiatives focused on physician advocacy, mentorship, and workforce integration.

Within her residency program, Dr. Beg serves as a Co-Lead Resident and holds a leadership role within the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Section of Residents. Through these positions, she works to amplify resident voices, support professional development, and promote collaboration among trainees across the country.
