Dr. Therese Bichay is an experienced primary care physician with broad clinical experience in family medicine and community health across Egypt and Canada. She earned her MB ChB from Ain Shams University, Egypt, and holds the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).

Dr. Bichay currently works in one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Ontario within the William Osler Health System as a physician navigator where she collaborates closely with emergency physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to support patient flow, clinical documentation, and timely delivery of care.. She also has extensive Canadian clinical experience in family medicine, where she gained experience having worked as a Clinical Assistant in Brampton. Prior to immigrating to Canada, she practiced independently as a General Practitioner and Hospitalist in Cairo, Egypt, providing comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages, managing acute and chronic medical conditions, delivering prenatal and preventive care, performing minor procedures, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and participating in the management of medical emergencies.

Dr. Bichay is deeply committed to advocating for internationally trained physicians and advancing equitable pathways to physician licensure in Canada. She joined the Internationally Trained Physicians of Canada (formerly the Internationally Trained Physicians of Ontario) as a volunteer in 2021, where she actively participated in advocacy initiatives, policy discussions, stakeholder engagement, and physician workforce projects. She later became the manager and now serves as a member of the Board of Directors. In these leadership roles, she contributes to ITP advocacy, research, and collaboration with policymakers and healthcare stakeholders to improve licensure pathways and strengthen physician workforce integration across Canada.

She has contributed to qualitative research identifying postgraduate training and licensure for internationally trained physicians in Canada, as well as collaborative research examining the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on treatment responsiveness and survival outcomes among patients experiencing in-hospital cardiac arrest.

Dr. Bichay is deeply committed to giving back to the community through volunteerism and service. She actively supports older adults by assisting seniors in the community and visiting patients in the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit at Brampton Civic Hospital. She also participates in outreach initiatives that provide hot meals, clothing, and essential supplies to individuals experiencing homelessness.
A passionate advocate for health equity and patient-centered care, Dr. Bichay continues to pursue professional development in areas including Indigenous health, immigrant and refugee mental health, trauma-informed care, equity, diversity and inclusion, and patient safety.
